Claire is our Marketing Manager.

Can you tell everyone a bit about yourself?
I graduated from the University of Dundee in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Applied Computing. During my studies the field that I had a great interest in was web development however since graduating I have also become very interested in accessibility.
I was born with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy and since the age of 3 I have used a wheelchair 24/7. Due to my disability I have always come across problems regarding accessibility, which is why it’s such a passion for me. When I visit places, especially new places, it takes a lot of organising. I either need to contact where I’m going to see if I’m able to get in or try and find information online i.e. photos. This is where the work from OOVIRT is helpful because with creating virtual tours it is great for potential customers to be able to visually see and plan before they visit. By providing much needed accessible information like measurements for certain areas etc. it allows people to find all they need to know in one place.
What is your current role?
My role within OOVIRT is keep all our social media platforms up to date as well as adding our website content. I also test run any virtual tour that are developed.
What are your ambitions and passions?
As well as my passion for accessibility, I am also a disability campaigner and aim to spread disability awareness through my blog, “A Journey In My Wheels”. Here I discuss various topics in the hope to diminish negative views and change the perspective some people have on living with a disability. I volunteer for The ARCHIE Foundation Tayside and PAMIS, as well as being on the board of directors for Creative Dundee and being an Ambassador in Dundee for Euan’s Guide.
What are your interests?
In my spare time I enjoy going out with friends and family, exploring new places and enjoying walks outdoors when the weather is warm. I also love going to concerts and music festivals, music sounds 100% better live.
What is a random fact about you?
I own over 20 handbags!!!!
