Case Study – Clayton Caravan Park

This week we are interviewing Andrew Kennedy who is the Director of Clayton Caravan Park. Clayton Caravan Park is set amongst 60 acres of the beautiful Eden Valley in rural North East Fife. The park is ideally situated for exploring the local area being just minutes from historic St Andrews and the stunning Fife coastline. The quiet tranquil setting also offers the perfect location to relax and unwind.

Clayton offers a wide range of new and pre-owned holiday homes and lodges for sale and hire on our beautiful 5-star park.

Why did you set up the business, what was the vision?
Andrew is following in the footsteps of is father, and he is the 4th generation of a family business that was set up back in 1966. Andrew is proud to carry forward with the original vision – “to provide top quality holiday accommodation with a high level of customer service.” Judging by the excellent feedback they receive and expansive facilities he is continuing to deliver on this promise.
Why is accessibility important to you?
“Accessibility is important to us as we strive to be inclusive for all. This allows customers and staff to enjoy greater experiences and perspectives. Appealing to a wider range of customers also makes the business more sustainable. I feel it reflects well on our Park community and allows us the opportunity to build partnerships within it.”
Why is a virtual tour important to you?
In 2017 we developed a virtual tour for Clayton Caravan Park covering their holiday facilities for example restaurant/bar. Having a virtual tour Andrew feels “it is important as it allows us to display our Visit Scotland 5-star rated facilities.” He also thinks they are “effective at marketing” for their holiday homes that they have on sale.
How has working with OOVIRT and PAMIS made you more accessible?
“Working with OOVIRT has allowed us to be more accessible as customers with accessibility issues can plan ahead and visit the park with the confidence that they will be accommodated. We work with a chosen charity every year and put on a range of event from race nights to fun days etc. We have raised thousands of pounds for charities such as PAMIS.”
What special offers/events/promos do you have?
“At Clayton Caravan Park we sell a range of holiday homes and Lodges on the park whilst also offering 5-star self-catering accommodation. All within a few miles of St Andrews.”

You are able to view one of these fantastic holiday homes through our virtual tours here, and also take a tour of the great facilities here.

Don’t forget to have a look at the Clayton Caravan Park website to see all their holiday homes on offer, and also follow them on Facebook and Twitter (@claytoncaravans) to keep up to date on all events or offers throughout the year.

Thank you to Andrew Kennedy, Director of Clayton Caravan Park for answering our questions.

I graduated from the University of Dundee in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Applied Computing. During my studies the field that I had a great interest in was web development however since graduating I have also become very interested in accessibility. I was born with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy and since the age of 3 I have used a wheelchair 24/7. Due to my disability I have always come across problems regarding accessibility, which is why it’s such a passion for me.
